You can have a safeguard against many health diseases and conditions by simply sipping a cup of warm tea, but that is the case unless the tea bags are filled with pesticides. Some of the most famous commercial tea brands have pesticides enough to poison you and slowly start killing you.
According to the investigation that was conducted by CBC News, more than half of the leading brands of teas had pesticide levels that were way above the limit which can be acceptable. A lot of chemicals were contained in 8 out of 10 tea brands, and in one of them there were contained more than 22 types of pesticides.
According to many studies, these pesticides may trigger the development of Alzheimer’s disease, ADHD, birth and reproductive defects, and in some cases even cancer! These pesticides are able to cause a lot of damage to our endocrine and nervous system. Also a mother that will intake these pesticides can pass on to the unborn baby. These pesticides may also be passed through the breast milk, which means even when the baby is fed they can be passed.
These pesticides are highly dangerous, and the worst thing about them is that they can accumulate in our body, and cause a lot of health problems!
Here are the tea companies that had pesticide levels above the acceptable limits:
- No Name
- Red Rose
- King Cole
- Lipton (Pure Green tea & Yellow Label Black Tea)
- Uncle Lee’s Legends of China (Green Tea & Jasmine Green Tea)
Toxic Paper Tea Bags
The companies that are producing the tea bags, are treating them with epichlorohydrin in order to prevent them from tearing or disintegrating. This ingredient is a chlorinated epoxy compound, and it is mostly used as an industrial solvent by many companies. It has the ability to irritate our skin, and is highly carcinogenic. Mostly this ingredient is used for the epoxy resins production. The safety literature of Dow, says that this is a very harmful and dangerous chemical, and also there should be more precautions before they are put on the shelf for selling.
Avoid “Natural Flavors” as an Ingredient
The natural flavors that are used in these teas, also hide very harmful ingredients, that are kept hidden from the consumer, and this is the easiest and sneakiest way to do it. They are labeled as natural flavors because the consumer will think the product is better and more natural or cleaner, as well as the ingredients that are used. The natural flavors may sound harmless, but they are in fact corn based and soy based ingredients, therefore meaning that they are GMOs that are kept hidden.
