Artist Turns Ordinary Stones Into Adorable Animals That Fit Inside Your Palm

Akie Naata is a self-taught artist from Japan, who loved to pick up stones since she was a child, and that actually became her biggest inspiration. Now, she’s turning little stones into beautiful art.

This amazing collection of tiny painted stones from this Japanese artist, has simply taken little animals to another level!

Her talent has made her creations one of the most beautiful ones, that the world has ever seen. She is choosing stones that she believes have their own character, and she’s bringing them to life by painting and drawing on them with acrylic paints.

One day, when she was waling along a riverbank she saw a peculiar stone that resembled a rabbit, and this was the beginning, this stone gave her the idea to start turning little stones into amazing pieces of art.

Akie believes that each stone has its own intentions, therefore her encounters with them serve as a cue, and she starts to paint whatever she sees in a stone.

She forms a connection or a bond with a certain stone. Also she respects the stones, which is why she’s never processing them, and she said that she would never cut off an edge from a stone, in order to alter the shape.

The final results are life-like, beautifully detailed stones. However, she says that she always tries to find life in each stone she picks. She’s using acrylic paint, and she paints different animals from cats and dogs to mice and birds.

But, a piece of work is complete only when she can see the eyes of the animal looking alive, and staring back at her, and not when she’s done drawing the details!

Akie believes that each stone has its own soul and a story to tell, and she even admits that she’s talking to them sometimes when she’s holding them.

Akie says that when she’s thinking of the long time and patience it takes for a transformation of a stone from a huge boulder in the mountains, to the shape and size it has, she thinks of the Earth’s history that the stone has silently witnessed for thousands of years.

The creations she’s making are simply incredibly realistic and adorable at the same time, so make sure you check them out.
