This Baby Zebra Was Born With Spots Instead Of Stripes

Recently in Kenya was spotted a very rare polka dot baby zebra, and the pictures of this cute animal went viral! The baby zebra caught the heart of many around the world, and the photos are adorable. And what’s more interesting is that, we can at last put an end to the everlasting question, whether zebras are black with white stripes, or white with black stripes.

This very unusual zebra was first seen in Kenya in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, where Antony Tira and Rahul Sachdev who took the photos couldn’t believe their eyes.

Parmale Lemein, an untamed life expert from the Matira Bush Camp, told the Daily Nation this was the principal such instance of a spotted zebra at the Mara Reserve. All things considered, the child zebra has melanism, which is something contrary to albinism. Nonetheless, he had some dismal news: no comparable zebras have made due recent months with such a condition in African parks.

The Pictures of the Baby Zebra Went Viral

According to the researchers the zebra stripes are forming when there is an inhibition in melanin production, which means the animal is most likely black with white stripes, not the opposite of that.

But the zebra stripes aren’t just there for no reason. Live Science reported that they are helping the animal to stay cool in the African heat. But there are also theories that the zebra stripes are also hiding the animal from bigger predators, such as lions. Also they are preventing flies from biting them, because they are known to transmit diseases.
